Dr. Megan Higgins

General Practitioner

Dr Megan Higgins is a dedicated General Practitioner who embraces the full scope of general practice with enthusiasm and compassion.

She completed her medical training at the University of Sydney in 2007, followed by a Diploma of Child Health from the University of Otago and attained Fellowship with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. Her diverse career spans public health, occupational medicine, rural and remote care, expedition medicine, and conventional general practice.

Now based in Canberra, Dr Higgins enjoys the variety that general practice offers and is particularly interested in travel medicine—an area of growing passion inspired by her lifelong love of the outdoors and her experience working at high altitude in Nepal.

Dr Higgins is skilled in managing both acute and episodic care while maintaining a strong focus on long-term health and prevention. Her approach is practical, evidence-based, and holistic, encouraging patients to take an active role in their care. She integrates lifestyle and non-pharmacological strategies where appropriate to support sustainable health outcomes.

Outside of work, Dr Higgins spends her time in nature with her young family, often bushwalking, exploring the coast, or travelling. When she’s not outdoors, she enjoys cooking and sharing food with friends, or getting lost in an eclectic mix of books.
